11.3 Tool interlock
The Tool interlock function can be used to check the locking mechanism of the dispensing tools and
gripper.

Detect volumes radio button
Activate the Detect volumes function. The
parameters set in the application for the
labware are used.
Use required minimum volumes radio button
epBlue assumes that all vessels are filled with the
minimum required volume for this run. Use this
function for dry runs.
Input volumes manually radio button
Deactivate the Detect volumes function. You have
to enter the run parameters manually.
Detect tips checkbox
Activate the Detect tips function.
Check labware placement checkbox
Activate the Check labware placement function.
Information on the optical sensor (see Optical sensor on p. 80).
1 Zero value sensor field
0 = Dispensing tool not in home position.
1 = Dispensing tool is in home position.
2 Tool detection sensor field
0 = Dispensing tool not available.
1 = Dispensing tool available.
3 Interlock field
OPEN = Locking mechanism opened.
CLOSED = Locking mechanism closed.
4 Current Tool field
Name of the tool used.
5 Refresh button
Update fields 1 – 4
6 Lock button
Locking the dispensing tool.
7 Unlock button
Unlocking the dispensing tool.
