7 Troubleshooting
7.1 General errors
Error Possible cause Remedy
Measuring results are
imprecise.
Reagent has exceeded its
shelf life.
Ensure that the reagent is still within its
shelf life and properly prepared.
Reagent not prepared
correctly.
Use clean demineralized water of adequate
quality for preparation, if required.
Pipetting incorrect.
Ensure that the pipette is calibrated and
that pipetting is being performed correctly.
Incubation procedure
before measurement is
incorrect.
If the method procedure requires
incubation before the measurement,
ensure that the temperature and time for
incubation are correctly observed.
The microplate is not
completely filled with
measuring solution, and
contains bubbles.
Ensure that the minimum microplate
volume required for a measurement is
reached and that there are no bubbles are
in the measuring solution.
Turbidity of the
measuring solution.
Centrifuge turbid measuring solutions
which contain particles and use the clear
supernatant.
PlateReader is drifting.
Observe the ambient conditions.
Prevent temperature changes.
Contact Eppendorf Service.
Plate compartment is
contaminated.
Clean the plate compartment.
Interfering substances
reinforce or weaken the
fluorescence signal.
Remove the interfering substances.
The plate compartment
flap is not closed.
If the plate compartment flap is defective,
please contact Eppendorf Service.
Measuring results are
incorrect.
Method incorrectly
programmed.
Ensure that the method parameters are
entered correctly.
Standard solution not
prepared correctly.
Ensure that the correct standard is used
and that the measuring solution for the
standard is prepared correctly.
Positioning cannot be
completed correctly.
The plate compartment is
heavily contaminated and
the spring mechanism is
not functioning correctly.
Clean the plate compartment.
