3. Oncethedesiredmasterunithasbeenselected,resetthesystemusingthereset
command.
4. Afterthestackhasbeenconfigured,youcanusetheshowswitchunitcommandto
physicallyidentifyeachunit.Whenyouenterthecommandwithaunitnumber,the
MGRLEDofthespecifiedswitchwill
blinkfor10second s.Thenormalstateofthis
LEDisoffformemberunitsandsteadygreenforthemanagerunit.
5. Persistentdataonallstackunitscanbeclearedalongwiththecurrentconfiguration
usingtheclearconfigallasdescribedintheSecureStackA2ConfigurationGuide.
Adding a New Switch to an Existing Stack
Usethefollowingproceduretoinstallanewswitchtoanexistingstackconfiguration.
Thisprocedureassumesthatthenewswitchbeingaddedhasacleanconfigurationfrom
manufacturingandisrunningthesamefirmwareimageversionasotherswitchesinthe
stack.
1. Ensurethatpowerisoffonthenew
switchbeinginstalled.
2. Useoneofthefollowingmethodstocompletethestackcableconnections:
–Iftherunningstackusesadaisychaintopology,makethestackcableconnections
fromthebottomofthestacktothenewswitch(thatis,STACKDOWNportfrom
thebottomswitchoftherunningstack
totheSTACKUPportonthenewswitch).
–Iftherunningstackusesaclosedloopconfiguration,breaktheloopandmakethe
stackcableconnectionstothenewswitchtoclosetheloop.
3. Applypowertothenewswitch.
Using the clear config Command in a Stack
Whenusingtheclearconfigcommand(asdescribedintheSecureStackA2Configuration
Guide)toclearconfigurationparametersinastack,itisimportanttorememberthe
following:
•UseclearconfigtoclearconfigparameterswithoutclearingstackswitchIDs.This
commandWILLNOTclearstackparametersandavoidstheprocess
ofre‐numbering
thestack.
•Useclearconfigallwhenitisnecessarytoclearallconfigparameters,includingstack
switchIDsandswitch priorityvalues.
•UseclearipaddresstoremovetheIPaddressofthestack.
