Displaying Port Statistics
Todisplayportstatistics,usethefollowingcommand:
show port counters [octets | packets | receive-errors | transmit-errors |
collisions | receive-etherstats | transmit-etherstats] [port port-list]
Example
Youcanspecifyonestatistictypewiththecommand.Forexample,todisplayoctetstatisticsfor
port 1, typethefollowingcommand:

Clearing Statistics Counters
Toclearallportstatisticscounters,usethefollowing command:
clear port counters
Thecountersbeginincrementingagain,startingfrom0.
Monitoring Port Statistics
Youcandisplayportstatisticsinaformatthatcontinuallyupdatesthecounters.Whenyouenable
monitoringofportstatistics,MSSclearstheCLIsessionwindowanddisplaysthestatisticsatthe
topofthewindow.MSSrefreshesthestatisticsevery5seconds.Thisintervalcannotbe
configured.
Tomonitorport
statistics,usethefollowingcommand:
monitor port counters [octets | packets | receive-errors | transmit-errors |
collisions | receive-etherstats | transmit-etherstats]
Statisticstypesaredisplayedinthefollowingorderbydefault:
•Octets
•Packets
• Receiveerrors
•Transmiterrors
• Collisions
• ReceiveEthernetstatistics
•TransmitEthernetstatistics
Eachtypeofstatisticisdisplayedseparately.PresstheSpacebartocyclethroughthedisplaysfor
eachtype.
Note: To display all types of statistics with the same command, use the monitor port counters
command. (See “Monitoring Port Statistics” on page 4-10.)
