ThegigabitEthernetportsonanRBT‐8400havetwophysicalinterfaces:a1000BASE‐TXcopper
interfaceanda1000BASE‐SXor1000BASE‐LXfiberinterface.Thecopperinterfaceisprovidedby
abuilt‐inRJ‐45connector. ThefiberinterfaceisoptionalandrequiresinsertionofaGigabit
interfaceconverter
(GBIC).
Onlyoneinterfacecanbeactiveonaport. Bydefault,theGBIC(fib er)interface.Youcanconfigure
aporttousetheRJ‐45(copper)interfaceinstead.
IfyousettheportinterfacetoRJ‐45onaportthatalreadyhasanactivefiberlink,MSS
immediatelychanges
thelinktothecopperinterface.
TodisablethefiberinterfaceandenablethecopperinterfaceonanRBT‐8400port,usethe
followingcommand:
set port preference port-list rj45
TodisablethecopperinterfaceandreenablethefiberinterfaceonanRBT‐8400port,usethe
followingcommand:
clear port preference port-list
Todisplaytheenabledinterfacetypeforeachport,usethefollowingcommand:
show port preference [port-list]
