IfyouhadpreviouslyconfiguredtheAPtouseastaticIPaddress,thenwhentheAPbootsasan
AirDefensesensor,itusesthatsameIPaddress.Otherwise,theconvertedAPusesDHCPtoobtain
itsIPaddress.
Optionally,theconvertedAPcanobtainanIPaddressdirectlyfroman
AirDefenseserver.Todo
this,configureyourDHCPservertoincludetheIPaddressorhostnameoftheAirDefenseserver
intheOption43fieldoftheDHCPOffermessage.AfterreceivingaDHCPOfferidentifyingan
AirDefenseserverintheoption43field,aconvertedAPcontactstheAirDefenseserver
andgets
anIPaddressfromit.
Configuring an AirDefense Sensor
TheveryfirsttimeanAPgetsconvertedtoaSensor,youmustconfigurethesensorwithitsIP
addressandtheIPaddressoftheAirDefenseEnterpriseserverthesensorwillsendthe
informationto.Afterinitialconfigurationthedatawillremainonthedeviceflash,andthesensor
can
beconvertedtoanAPandbackwithoutlossofthisconfigurationdata.
Access the Sensor User Interface
DirectlyconnecttheSensortoyourworkstationusinganEthernetcable.IfaPoweroverEthernet
(PoE)injectorisused,connectyourworkstationto“DataIn”andconnectyoursensorto“Data
andPowerout”.
Youwillbeusingthe SensorUserInterface(SensorUI)forthissetup,anHTMLbased
interface
thatresidesontheSensor.UsetheSensorUItoinitiallyconfigureSensors,andtoperformsome
maintenanceactivitiesaftertheinitialinstallation.
ToaccesstheSensorUI,youmustloginremotelyfromyourworkstationwebbrowser.
1. Setyourworkstation’sIPaddressto192.16 8.100.10 andsubnetmaskto255.255.255.0.
2. Enter
https://192.168.100 .100inyourbrowser;press<Enter>.
TheSensorUIloginscreenappears.
3. Enterthedefaultusernameandpasswordintheloginscreen:
UserName:admin,Password:airsensor
TheSensorUIpageappears,asshowninFigure 242.
Note: For security, change the Sensor Web User login password at your earliest opportunity.
