Accountingrecordscomeinthreetypes:start,stop,andupdate.MSSgeneratestheserecords
basedontheconfiguredaccountingmode,eitherstart‐stoporstop‐only:
•Whenstart‐stopmodeisconfigured,astartrecordisgeneratedwhenauserisfirstconnected,
anupdaterecord isgeneratedwhenauser
roamsfromoneaccesspointtoanother,andastop
recordisgeneratedwhenauserterminateshisorhersession.
•Whenstop‐onlymodeisconfigured,astoprecordisgeneratedwhenauserterminateshisor
hersession.
Optionally,MSScanbeconfiguredtosendupdaterecordsatperiodic
intervals,andalsogenerate
anAccounting‐OnmessagewhentheRoamAboutSwitchstarts,andanAccounting‐Offmessage
whentheRoamAboutSwitchisadminstrativelyshutdown.Thisfunctionalitycanbeusedin
conjunctionwithbillingsystemsthatrequireperiodicaccountingmessages.
Tosetaccounting,typethefollowingcommand:
