Configuring the Web Portal WebAAA Session Timeout Period
WhenaclientthathasconnectedthroughWebPortalWebAAAentersstandbyorhibernation
mode,MSSmayplacetheclient’sWebPortalWebAAAsessionintheDeassociatedstate.
AWebPortalWebAAAsessioncanbeplacedintheDeassociatedstateunderthefollowing
circumstances:
•Theclienthasbeenidleforthe
Useridle‐timeoutperiod,whichcanhappenwhentheclientis
instandbyorhibernationmode
•TheclientexplicitlydeassociatesfromtheAPbysendingan802.11disassociatemessage
•TheAPhandlingtheclientʹssessionappearstobeinoperativefromtheRoamAboutSwitch
WhenaWebPortalWebAAAsessionentersthe
Deassociatedstate,itstaysinthatstateuntilone
ofthefollowingtakesplace:
•Theclientreappearsonthisaccesspoint,oranotheraccesspointmanagedbyaRoamAbout
Switch,atwhichtimetheWebPortalWebAAAsessionenterstheActivestate
•TheWebPortalWebAAAsessionisterminatedadministratively
•TheWeb
PortalWebAAAsessiontimeoutperiodexpires,atwhichtimetheWebPortalWebAAA
sessionisterminatedautomatically
Bydefault,theWebPortalWebAAAsessiontimeoutperiodis5seconds.Youcanoptionally
changethelengthoftheWebPortalWebAAASessionTimeoutperiod.Thiscanbeusefulifyou
wantto
allowaclientconnectingthroughWebPortalWebAAAtoenterstandby orhibernation
mode,thenbeabletoresumeitssessionafterwakingup,withouthavingtologinagain.
TochangetheWebPortalWebAAAsessiontimeoutperiod,usethefollowingcommand:
set service-profile name web-portal-session-timeout seconds
Youcanspecifyfrom5–2,800seconds.Thedefaultis5seconds. NotethattheWebPortal
WebAAAsessiontimeoutperiodappliesonlytoWebPortalWebAAAsessionsalready
authenticatedwithausernameandpassword.ForallotherWebPortalWebAAAsessions,the
defaultWebPortalWebAAAsessiontimeoutperiod
of5secondsisused.
