1. TheAPsendsaDHCPDiscovermessagefromtheAP.
2. TheDHCPserverreceivestheDiscovermessage(through
arelayagent)andreplieswitha
DHCPOffermessagecontainingIPaddressfortheAP,therouterIPaddressfortheAP’sIP
subnet,theDNSserveraddress,andthedomainname.APthensendsaDHCPRequest
messagetotheserverandreceivesanAckfromtheserver.
3. The
APsendsabroadcastFindRASmessagetoIPsubnetbroadcastaddress.
4. RAS1andRAS3havehighpriorityfortheAPandreplyimmediately.
5. TheAPcontactsRAS1anddetermineswhetheritshouldusealocallystoredoperational
imageordownloaditfromtheRoamAboutSwitch.
RAS1iscontactedbecauseit
hasfeweractiveAPconnectionsthanRAS3.Oncetheoperational
imageisloaded,theAPrequestsconfigurationinformationfromRAS1.
