About the Mobility Domain Feature
AMobilityDomainenablesuserstoroamg eographicallyacrossthesystemwhilemaintaining
theirdatasessionsandVLANorsubnetmembership,includingIPaddress,regardlessofhowthe
RoamAboutswitchesareattachedtothenetworkbackbone.Asusersmovefromoneareaofa
buildingorcampustoanother,theirassociation
withserversorotherresourcesappearsthesame.
WhenusersaccessaRoamAboutSwitchinaMobilityDomain,theybecomemembersofthe
VLANdesignatedthroughtheirauthorizedidentity.Ifauser’snativeVLANisnotpresentonthe
RoamAboutSwitchthatheorsheaccesses,theaccessedRoamAboutSwitch
formsatunneltoa
RoamAboutSwitchintheMobilityDomainthatincludesthenativeVLAN.
InaMobilityDomain,oneRoamAboutSwitchactsasaseeddevice,whichdistri butesinformation
totheRoamAboutswitchesdefinedintheMobilityDomain.Otherwise,theseedRoamAbout
SwitchoperateslikeanyotherMobilityDomain
member.
