TheFaultManagementSystemisafeatureincludedinRASMtomakeiteasiertomanagefaults
(alarms)thatoccurinthenetwork.Afaultoralarm(thesetwotermsareusedinterchangeably)is
generatedbyatrap,arule,astatus,orathresholdexceededevent.TheFaultManagementSystem
monitorstrapsfromEnterasysandOEMdevices.
TheFaultManagementSystemalsomonitorscertaintrapsforthirdpartyapplications,andoffers
administratorstheabilitytoaddnewtrapsupportwhennecessary.ThetypeoftrapandIPsource
determinehownewtrapsupportshouldcorrelatewithexistingtrapsupport.
