Access Point RBT-4102 Conversion
ThissectiondescribeshowtoconvertanEnterasys NetworksRoamAboutAccessPointRBT4102
operatinginstandalonemodetooperateinthinmodewiththe EnterasysRBT8xxxseriesof
wirelessswitches.
Logically,theprocessappearstotheRBT4102asafirmwareupgrade,andthereforecanbe
performedwithoutrequiringphysical
accesstothedevice.ToconvertathinmodeRBT4102back
tostandalonemoderequiresphysicalaccesstotheAP,refertoReturningtoStandaloneMode
onpage B5.
Preparing Deployed RBT-4102s for Conversion
ToconvertRBT4102sthathavealreadybeendeployedinaproductionnetwork,performthe
followingstepspriortoconversion:
1. ConnectyourRoamAboutwirelessswitch,suchastheRBT8100,tothenetworkandverify
thatithasLayer2orLayer3connectivitywiththeRBT4102.
2. Ensurethatthedeployed
RBT4102hasaccesstoaDHCPserver,soitcanbeassignedanIP
addresswhenitbootsinthinmode.
IftheRoamAboutwirelessswitchisonthesameLayer2networkastheRBT4102,theswitch
canactasaDHCPserver.(RefertoDHCPServer,
intheRoamAboutMobilitySystemSoftware
ConfigurationGuideformoreinformation.)
3. IftheRoamAboutwirelessswitchisreachablebywayofLayer3connectivity,ensurethatthe
switchisconfiguredwithawellknownDNSentry.(RefertoConfiguringandManagingDNS
oftheRoamAboutMobilitySystem SoftwareConfigurationGuidefor
moreinformation.)
4. ConfiguretheRoamAboutwirelessswitchtoacceptthisRBT4102asavalidAPinthe
