Using RF Measurements from an Ekahau Site Survey
RFmeasurementscomefromasitesurveyfilegeneratedbytheEkahauSiteSurveytool.Choose
oneofthefollowingtoperformasitesurvey:
•InRASM—ViewyourRFcoveragearea.
•InRASM—Generateasitesurveyworkorder,specifyingtheareayouwanttosurvey.AJPEG
(.jpeg,.jpg)fileisgenerated.
•ImportthegeneratedJPEGfileintotheEkahauSiteSurveytool.
•Setthescaleofthe drawing.
•Performthesitesurvey.Walkthroughthearea,takingmeasurementswiththetool.
•SavetheRFmeasurementsintheEkahauSiteSurveytooltoafileincomma‐separatedvalues
(csv)format.
•InRASM—Importthe
csvfilecontainingtheRFmeasurementsintoRASM.
•InRASM—Optimizetocorrectattenuationfactors.
ThissectionguidesyouthroughthetasksyouneedtodoinRASM.Forinformationabouttasks
youneedtodointhe EkahauSiteSurveytool,pleaserefertotheESStool’sdocumentation.

Generating an Ekahau Site Survey Work Order
ThesitesurveyordercontainsthelocationsandMACaddressesoftheAPsforusewhen
conductingasitesurvey, andalsoprovidesaJPEGimageofthe floor.
Togenerateasitesurveyorder:
1. DisplaythefloorplanintheContentpanel.
2. IntheTaskListpanel,clickRFPlanning.
3. UnderSiteSurvey,clickReport.TheSiteSurveyOrderGenerationdialogisdisplayed.
4. Selectthescopeforwhichyouwantgenerateasitesurveyorder.YoucanspecifytheNetwork
Plan,anindividualsite,anindividualbuilding,oranindividualfloor.
5. Selectthelanguage:EnglishorGerman
6. Tochangetheoutput
directoryforthereport,clickonthebuttonnexttooutputdirectory,
navigatetothenewdirectory,andclickSelect.
7. ClickGenerate.
8. Whenthereportisgenerated,clickthelinkintheresultsareatoviewthereportinabrowser
window.
