ThissectionprovidesanexampleofhowyoucanusetheFaultManagementsystemtolocate
roguedevicesonyournetwork,thenconfigureMSStousecountermeasuresagainstthem.
APradiosautomaticallyscantheRFspectrumforotherdevicestransmittinginthesame
spectrum.TheRFscansdiscoverthird‐partytransmi tters
inadditiontootherEnterasysradios.
MSSconsidersthenon‐Enterasystransmitterstobedevicesofinterest,whicharepotentialrogues.
Arogueaccesspointisanaccesspointthatisnotauthorizedtooperateinyournetwork.Rogue
accesspointsandtheirclientsunderminethesecurityofanenterprisenetwork
bypotentially
allowingunchallengedaccesstothenetworkbyanywirelessuserorclientinthephysicalvicinity.
Rogueaccesspointsanduserscanalsointerferewiththeoperationofyourenterprisenetwork.
YoucanconfigureRASMtoautomaticallyusecountermeasuresagainstrogueAPstodisable
them.
Notallaccesspoints
placedontheroguelistare“hostile”rogues.Youmaywanttomovesomeof
theaccesspointsfromtheroguelisttoaknowndeviceslistorathird‐partyAPlist.Formore

Tolocatearogue:
1. ClickontheAlarmsoptioninthemainRASMtoolbar.Alistofalarmsisdisplayed.
2. Filterthealarmlistsothatonlyalarmsrelatedtoroguedevicesaredisplayed.
Todothis,adjust
theselectioncriteriaonthefaultdashboard.Intheexamplebelow,the
alarmsarefilteredsothatonlyalarmsfromtheRoamAboutSwitchRBT‐8100thatcontain
“rogue”intheDescriptionfieldaredisplayed.
