secondbeacon.UsingsmallerDTIMintervalsdeliversbroadcast/multicastframesinamore
timelymanner,causingstationsinPowerSavemodetowakeupmoreoftenanddrainpower
faster.UsinghigherDTIMvaluesreducesthepowerusedby
stationsinPowerSavemode,but

transmittingdataviathewirelessnetwork,yourwirelessnetworkautomaticallysplitsupthe
fileormessageinanumber
ofdifferentpacketsthatarere‐assembledagainbythe
communicationpartner.RoamAboutproductsusestandardIEEE802.11compatibleframe
lengths,wheredifferentlengthsapplyforeachTransmitRate.Fragmentationwillapply
alternative(usuallyshorter)framelengthstosplitandreassemblethewirelessdataframes.

2347)setstheRequesttoSend(RTS)thresholdframelengthbetween0and
2,327bytes.YoucanconfiguretheaccesspointtoinitiateanRTSframesequencealways,
never,oronlyonframeslongerthanaspecifiedlength.Ifthepacketsizeissmallerthanthe
presetRTSthresholdsize,the
RTS/CTSmechanismwillNOTbeenabled.
Theaccesspointsendsrequesttosend(RTS)framestoaparticularreceivingstationto
negotiatethesendingofadataframe.AfterreceivinganRTS,thestationsendaCTS(Clearto
Send)frametoacknowledgetherightforthestationtosenddata
frames.Theaccesspoint
contendingforthemediummaynotbeawareofeachother.TheRTS/CTSmechanismcan
solvethisʺHiddenNodeProblemʺ.
IftheRTSthresholdissetto0,theaccesspointneversendsRTSsignals.Ifsetto2347,the
accesspointalwayssendsRTSsignals.
Ifsettoanyothervalue,andthepacketsizeequalsor
exceedstheRTSthreshold,theRTS/CTS(RequesttoSend/CleartoSend)mechanismwillbe
