Upgrading Firmware
YoucanupgradetheAccessPoint3000softwarefromalocalfileonthemanagementworkstation,
orfromanFTPorTFTPserver.NewsoftwaremaybeprovidedperiodicallyontheWirelessWeb
site(http://www.enterasys.com/products/wireless).
Afterupgradingnewsoftware,youmustreboottheAccessPoint3000toimplementthenew
code.
Untilarebootoccurs,theAccessPoint3000willcontinuetorunthesoftwareitwasusingbefore
theupgradestarted.
Beforeupgradingnewsoftware,verifythattheAccessPoint3000isconnectedtothenetworkand
hasbeenconfiguredwithacompatibleIPaddressandsubnetmask.
Bulkupgrades
canbedoneusingEnterasysNetworksNetSightInventoryManager.
IfyouneedtodownloadfromanFTPorTFTPserver,performthefollowingadditionaltasks:
• ObtaintheIPaddressoftheFTPorTFTPserverwheretheaccesspointsoftwareisstored.
•Verifythattheimageisintheappropriatedirectoryon
theserver.
•IfupgradingfromanFTPserver,besurethatyouhaveanaccountconfiguredontheserver
withausernameandpassword.
•IfVLANsareconfiguredontheaccesspoint,determinetheVLANIDwithwhichtheFTPor
TFTPserverisassociated,andthenconfigurethemanagement
station,orthenetworkportto
whichitisattached,withthesameVLANID.Ifyouaremanagingtheaccess pointfroma
wirelessclient,theVLANIDforthewirelessclientmustbeconfiguredonaRADIUSserver.
