ItlistsaccesspointsfoundduringthescanontheNeighborAPDetectionStatuspageafterthe
scaniscomplete.
IfyouenabletheRADIUSauthenticationsetting,thisfeaturealsoidentifiesrogueAPs.Itperforms
aRADIUSserver
lookupfortheMACaddressofeachaccesspointfound.Itreportsaccesspoints
whoseMACaddressesitfindsintheRADIUSserverontheNeighborAPDetectionStatuspage.It
reportsaccesspointswhoseMACaddressesitdoesnotfindasrogueAPsinthesyslog.
The term "rogue AP" is used to describe an access point that is not authorized to participate on the network.
It
maynothavethepropersecuritysettingsinplace.RogueAP’scanpotentiallyallow
unauthorizedusersaccesstothenetwork.Inaddition,alegitimateclientmaymistakenlyassociate
toarogueAPwithinvalidencryptionsettingsandnottotheAPthathasbeenconfiguredforitto
use.This
cancauseadenialofserviceproblem.
