Usage
Trafficthatmatchesasnoopfilteriscopiedafteritisdecrypted.Thedecrypted(clear)versionis
senttotheobserver.
Forbestresults:
•DonotspecifyanobserverthatisassociatedwiththeDAPwherethesnoopfilterisrunning.
Thisconfigurationcausesanendlesscycleofsnooptraffic.
•Ifthe
snoopfilterisrunningonaDistributedDAP,andtheDAPusedaDHCPserverinits
localsubnettoconfigureitsIPinformation,andtheDAPdidnotreceiveadefaultrouter
(gateway)addressasaresult,theobservermustalsobeinthesamesubnet.Withoutadefault
router,theDAPcannotfindtheobserver.
•TheDAPthatisrunningasnoopfilterforwardssnoopedpacketsdirectlytotheobserver.This
isaone‐waycommunication,fromtheDAPtotheobserver.Iftheobserverisnotpresent,the
DAPstillsendsthesnooppackets,whichusebandwidth.If
theobserverispresentbutisnot
listeningtoTZSPtraffic,theobservercontinuouslysendsICMPerrorindicationsbacktothe
DAP.TheseICMPmessagescanaffectnetworkandDAPperformance.
