Usage
Anetworkadministratoratthecorporateoffice canpreconfiguretheswitchinaRASMnetwork
plan.Theswitchconfigurationmusthaveanamefortheswitch,andtheserialnum b ermust
matchtheswitch’sserialnumber.Theconfigurationshouldalsoincludeallothersettingsrequired
forthedeployment,includingaccesspoint
configuration,SSIDs,AAAsettings,andsoon.
WhentheRASMserverinthecorporatenetworkreceivestheconfigurationrequest,theserver
looksinthecurrentlyopennetworkplanforaswitchconfiguration withthesamemodeland
serialnumberastheoneintheconfigurationrequest.
•Ifthenetworkplancontains
a configurationwithamatching modelandserialnumber,RASM
sendstheconfigurationtotheswitchandrestartstheswitch.Theswitchbootsusingthe
configurationitreceivedfromRASM.
•Ifthenetworkplandoesnothaveaconfigurationwithamatchingmodelandserialnumber,a
verificationwarningappearsin
RASM.Thewarningliststheswitch’sserialnumberandIP
address.Thenetworkadministratorcanuploadtheswitchintothenetworkplan,configure
switchparameters,anddeploytheconfigurationtotheswitch.
IfyouwantaRoamA bout switchmodeltobeabletoaccessaRASMserverforaconfiguration,
youalsomustpreconfiguretheRoamAboutswitchwiththefollowinginformation:
•IPaddress
•Defaultrouter(gateway)address
• DomainnameandDNSserveraddress
YoucanenabletheswitchtousetheMSSDHCPclienttoobtainthisinformationfromaDHCP
serverinthelocalnetworkwheretheswitchwillbedeployed.Alternatively,
youcanstatically
configuretheinformation.
TheIPaddressandDNSinformationareconfiguredindependently.Youcanconfigurethe
combinationofsettingsthatworkwiththenetwork resourcesavailableatthedeploymentsite.
