Disablesorreenablestheno‐broadcastmode.Theno‐broadcastmodehelpsreducetraffic
overheadonanSSIDbyleavingmoreofanSSID’sbandwidthavailableforunicasttraffic.Theno‐
broadcastmodealsohelpsVoIPhandsetsconservepowerbyreducingtheamountofbroadcast
trafficsenttothephones.
When
enabled,theno‐broadcastmodepreventsAPradiosfromsendingDHCPorARP
broadcaststoclientsontheserviceprofile’sSSID.Instead,anAPradiohandlesthistrafficas
follows:
•ARPrequests—IftheSSIDhasclientswhoseIPaddressestheRoamAboutSwitchdoesnot
alreadyknow,theswitchallowstheAP
radiotosendtheARPrequestasaunicasttoonly
thosestationswhoseaddressestheswitchdoesnotknow.TheAPradiodoesnotforwardthe
ARPrequestasabroadcastanddoes notsendtherequestasaunicasttostationswhose
addressestheswitchalreadyknows.
•DHCPOffers
orAcks—IfthedestinationMACaddressbelongstoaclientontheSSID,theAP
radiosendstheDHCPOfferorAckasaunicasttothatclientonly.
Theno‐broadcastmodedoesnotaffectothertypesofbroadcasttrafficanddoesnotprevent
clientsfromsendingbroadcasts.

set service-profile name no-broadcast {enable | disable}
