Usage
Bydefault,alladdressesexceptthehostaddressoftheVLAN,thenetworkbroadcastaddress,and
thesubnetbroadcastaddressareincludedintherange.Ifyouspecifytherange,thestartaddress
mustbelowerthanthestopaddress,andalladdressesmust beinthesamesubnet.TheIP
interfaceoftheVLANmustbewithinthesamesubnetbutisnotrequiredtobewithintherange.
SpecificationoftheDNSdomainname,DNSservers,anddefaultrouterareoptional.Ifyouomit
oneormoreoftheseoptions,theMSSDHCPserverusesoathvaluesconfiguredelsewhereon
the
switch:
•DNSdomainname—Ifthisoptionisnotsetwiththesetinterfacedhcp‐servercommand’s
dns‐domainoption,theMSSDHCPserverusesthevaluesetbythesetipdnsdomain
command.
•DNSservers—Iftheseoptionsarenotsetwiththesetinterfacedhcp‐servercommand’s
primary‐dns
andsecondary‐dnsoptions,theMSSDHCPserverusesthevaluessetbytheset
ipdnsservercommand.
Note: Use of the MSS DHCP server to allocate client addresses is intended for temporary,
demonstration deployments and not for production networks. Enterasys Networks recommends that
you do not use the MSS DHCP server to allocate client addresses in a production network.
