regionmaycontainupto64differentMSTIs.TheEnterasysswitchdevicemapsVLANIDs(VIDs)
andFilteringIDs(FIDs )toeachotherinaone‐to‐onecorrelation;forexample,FID3=VID3.

Determining FID-to-SID Mappings
VLANsaremappedtoMSTIsthroughaFID‐to‐SIDmappingcorrelationwhichisthekeyelement
inMSTPconfiguration.EachVLANisassociatedtoaFIDand,duringMSTIcreation,VLANsare
mappedtoSpanningTreeIDsusingtheirFIDassociation.Thismappingiscontainedwithinthe
MSTconfigurationdigest
describedintheprevioussection anddisplayedinthefollowing
example.Bydefault,everybridgewillhaveaFID‐to‐SIDmappingthatequalsVLANFID1/SID0.
