Eachtransmitqueuehasthecapabilitytorateshapealltrafficbeingtransmittedonthequeue.In
thisexample,weconfigureportge.2.17torate shapealltrafficegressingtransmitqueue8(the
actualhardwarequeue,nottheTxQreference)toathresholdof50%ofthe portsbandwidth.All
queues
remaininthedefaultstrictprioritymode.Anytrafficexceedingthisamountwillbefirst
bufferedandrescheduledfortransmission.Bufferedtrafficisonlydroppedifthebufferfills.Rate
shapingprovidestwoservices.Thebufferingofexcesspacketsassuresthattrafficinexcessofthe
configuredvaluewillbe
rescheduledandtransmittedaslongasthebuffersdonotfill.Thelimit
specifiedassuresthatlowerqueuesareservicedinanoversubscriptionsituationbaseduponthe
defaultstrictprioritymodebehavior.
