Example PoE Configuration
APoE‐compliantG‐Seriesdeviceisconfiguredasfollows:
•One400Wpowersupplyisinstalled.ThepoweravailableforPoEis150W.
•TwoPoEmodulesareinstalled.
•Thesetinlinepowermodecommandissettoauto,whichmeansthatthepoweravailablefor
PoE(150W)isdistributedevenly—75Wtoeach
PoEmodule.
•ThepowerrequiredtorunthePDs,whichareallconnectedtothisG‐Seriesdevicethrough
themoduleinslot2,is100W.
TomakepoweravailableforallthePDsconnectedtothemoduleinslot2,thenetwork
administratormustfirstchangethesettingofthe
setinlinepowermodecommand:

Whenthissettingforthesetinlinepowermodecommandchangestomanual,noneofthe150W
availableforPoEareassignedtothePoEmodules.Thenetworkadministratormustassignthe
150W,orsomeportionofthe150WtothePoEmodulestopowertheattachedPDs.

8. (Only if the set inlinepower mode command is
set to manual) Assign specific wattage to a PoE
module.
If the set inlinepower mode command is set to
manual, you must assign power to each PoE
module; otherwise, the module ports will not
receive power.
If the value set with this command is greater
than the maximum power percentage specified
with the set inlinepower available command, a
warning will display in the show inlinepower
output. If you execute these parameters, a ratio
of assigned power is applied to each module.

Use the clear command to clear the power value
manually assigned to one or more modules.
