First-Time Log-In Using a Console Port Connection
StarttheCommandLineInterface(CLI)fromthemodule’slocalconsoleportasfollows:
1. ConnectaterminaltothelocalconsoleportasdescribedinConnectingtoCOMPort
forLocalManagementonpage 326.Thestartupscreen,Figure 320,displays.
2. Attheloginprompt,enteroneofthefollowing
defaultusernames:
roforReadOnlyaccess,
rwforReadWriteaccess,or
adminforSuperUseraccess.(ThisaccesslevelallowsReadWriteaccesstoall
modifiableparameters,includinguseraccounts.)
3. PressEnter.
4. ThePasswordpromptdisplays.LeavethisstringblankandpressEnter.Themodule
informationand
MatrixpromptdisplaysasshowninFigure 320.

Note: This procedure applies only to initial log-in, and to logging in to a device not yet
configured with administratively-supplied user and password settings.
By default, the Matrix DFE Series device is configured with three user login accounts: ro
for Read-Only access; rw for Read-Write access; and admin for super-user access to all
modifiable parameters. The default password is set to blank (press Enter). For information
on changing these default passwords, refer to Chapter 3
in the Matrix DFE-Platinum
Series Configuration Guide.
