Removing an N-POE PSM
ToreplaceanN‐POE PSMinanoperatingN5chas sis,proceedasfollows:
1. UnplugtheACpowercordgoingfromtheACpoweroulettotheN5chassisAC
INLETconnectorassociatedwiththeN‐POE PSMbeingremov ed.Forexample,if
removingtheN‐POE PS MfrompowersupplyslotPOE1,
unplugtheACINLET1
powercordfromtheACoutlet.
2. Loosenthetwocaptivescrewsfasteningthecoveroverthebayopeningtoexposethe
N‐POE PSMtoberemoved.
3. AtthebayopeningwherethePOEslotislocated,loosenthecaptivePhillips‐head
screwsecuringtheN‐POE PSM
untilitisreleasedfromtheEnterasysMatrixN5
Chassis.
4. PulloutontheN‐POE PSMfront‐panelhandletoremovetheN‐POE PSMfromthe
EnterasysMatrixN5Chassis.
5. Repeatsteps1through4foreachadditionalN‐POE PSMyouplantoremove.
ToinstallanN‐POE PSM,refertosteps1through3in“InstallingOptionalN‐POE PSMs”
onpage 3‐10.PerformthosestepsforeachN‐POE PSMbeingreplaced.
Removing and Installing the Fan Assembly
TheN5chassisisequippedatthefactorywitharemovablefanassemblyforeasyperiodic
cleaningand/orreplacementifaproblemoccurswithfanoperation.AflatPhillips‐head
screwdriverisneededtoremoveandreinstallthefanassembly.Toremoveandreinstall
thefanassembly,referto“Removing
theFanAssembly”onpage 3‐20and“Installingthe
FanAssembly”onpage 3 ‐21.
Caution: Observe all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions when handling sensitive
electronic equipment.

Note: If you plan to remove and not replace an N-POE PSM immediately, reinstall the bay
cover over the empty power supply slots to reduce Electromagnetic Interference from the
Enterasys Matrix N5 Chassis.
Caution: The fan assembly is hot-swappable. However, do not run the chassis for any
extended periods of time without an operating fan assembly, as the chassis will quickly
overheat and cause damage.
