Installing Optional N-POE PSMs
WhenyoureceiveyourN5chassis,chassisbaycoversareinplaceoverbothPoEpower
supplybays.Thebaycovershavethreepurposes.Theyprovideanintakeairventilation
path,reduceElectromagneticInterference,andprovideaccesstothetwoslotsineach
chassisbay.Theleftbayhaspowersupply
slots1and2;therightbay,slots3and 4.
AsshowninTable 34,youcanhavepowerredundancywithtwotofourNPOE PSMs
installedaslongasthetotalloaddoesnotexceedpowerdemandasstatedinthe
Redundancycolumn.WhentwoormoreNPOE PSMs
areinstalled,theloadisevenly
sharedbyalltheNPOE P SMs.Ifonepowersupplyfailsorisremovedforanyreason,the
otherpowersuppliestakeuptheload.
Note: To install the DFE modules, refer to the module installation guide for the installation
instructions. Before you power up the N5 chassis, it is recommended that you complete
the installation of any optional N-POE-PSM-1200W power supplies, as applicable, and
DFE modules.
Caution: Observe all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions when handling sensitive
electronic equipment.
