theirPowerClassifications.EachNPOE PSMcansupplyupto1200Wattsofpower.You
candeterminethenumberofpowersuppliesneededbyreferringtoTable 11andadding
upthemaximumpowerrequirementaccording
tothePowerClassificationrating
(1 through3)ofeachPD.Keepinmindthateachclassificationrepresentsarangeof
power,soyourmaximumcalculationrepresentsaworstcasepowerconsumption,butthe
actualpowerconsumptioncouldbeless.

series
PoEcompliantmodule(suchastheEnterasysNetworks7H438549)installedinanN5
chassisandconnectedtosixdevicesrepresentedbythenumberedboxes(1 through6).In
thisexample,assumebox1 representsanonPoEcompliantdeviceandboxes2through6
representPoEcompliantPDs.The
PoEpowersystemprovides48Vdcandpowersupply
statusinformation(indicatesifpowersuppliesareokay)throughtheN5chassis
backplanetothePoEswitchmodule.
