Unpacking the DFE-Platinum Module
UnpacktheDFE‐Platinummoduleasfollows:
1. OpentheboxandremovethepackingmaterialprotectingtheDFEmodule.
2. VerifythecontentsofthecartonaslistedinTable 3‐1.
3. Removethetapesealonthenon‐conductivebagtoremovetheDFEmodule.
4. PerformavisualinspectionoftheDFEmodule
foranysignsofphysicaldamage.Contact

Installing Optional Network Expansion Modules (NEMs)
RefertoyourreleasenotesortheEnterasys N etworkswebsiteforthelatestavailablenetwork

APhillipsscrewdriverisneededtoinstallanoptionalnetworkexpansionmoduleintothe
7G4282‐49.
InstallingaNEMinvolves
•removingthecoverplatefromtheDFEmoduleand
• attachingtheNEMtotheDFEmodule.

FTM1 and FTM2 Connectivity
TheMatrix E7(6C107)chassishasbackplanesreferredtoasFTM1andFTM2.The7xxxxx
DFE‐PlatinummodulesuseFTM2forhighspeedcommunicationtoeachotherandoperateasone
switchingunitwithasingleIPaddress.Thetrafficthroughthesemodulesdoesnotconnectto
