Making the UTP Connections
ToconnectandverifyUTPcableconnectionstoRJ45ports(1through48),referto
Figure 3‐4andproceedasfollows:
1. EnsurethatthedeviceconnectedtotheotherendofthesegmentispoweredON.
2. InserttheRJ45connectoronthetwistedpairsegmentintotheappropriateRJ45port
connector.

3. Verify
thatalinkexistsbycheckingthattheportRX(Receive)LEDisON(flashing
amber,blinkinggreen,orsolidgreen). IftheRXLEDisOFFandtheTX(Transmit)
LEDisnotblinkingamber,performthefollowingstepsuntilitison:
a. Toviewthereceiveandtransmitactivity
onagroupofsegments,pressthe
GROUPSELECTbuttonforlessthanonesecond(seeFigure 3‐4)tosteptothe
groupofinterest(Groups1through4).
Caution: To prevent damage to the equipment, do not connect the PoE supported ports
(1 through 48) to segments running between buildings. Keep connections to equipment
within the building.

(1 a 48) a segmentos que vayan de un edificio a otro. Mantenga las conexiones de los
equipos dentro del edificio.

Note: If the RX and TX LEDs of a port do not indicate a link and the end-point device is a
PD, you may have a port without 48 Vdc to operate the PD. To check the PoE Port Status,
refer to “Verifying PoE Port Status” on page 3-19.
