2. ConnectthePowerCord.Connectthepoweradaptertotheaccesspoint,andthepowercord
toanACpoweroutlet.Otherwise,theaccesspointcanderiveitsoperatingpowerdirectly
fromtheRJ‐45portwhenconnectedtoadevicethatprovidesIEEE802.3afcompliantPower
overEthernet(PoE).
3. Observe
theSelfTest.Whenyoupowerontheaccesspoint,verifythatthePWRindicator
stopsflashingandremainson,andthattheotherindicatorsstartfunctioningasdescribed
under“LEDIndicators”onpage 1‐3.IfthePWRLEDdoesnotstopflashing,theselftesthas
notcompletedcorrectly.
4. Position
theAntennas.Theantennasemitsignalsalongaplaneperpendiculartotheantenna
(withthepropagationpatternshapedasatoroidalsphere),andprovidemoreeffective
coveragewhenpositionedalongdifferentaxes.Forexample,youmightpositiontheantennas
45to90degreesfromeachother.
Theaccesspointalsocompares
thestrengthofanincomingsignalonbothantennas,anduses
theantennareceivingthestrongersignaltocommunicatewithawirelessclient.
5. Placetheplasticcoverovertheaccesspoint(ifyouarenotusingtheconsolecable),andthen
snapitinplace.
6. Locktheaccesspointinplace
(optional).Topreventunauthorizedremovaloftheaccesspoint,
youcanuseaKensingtonSlimMicroSaversecuritycable(notincluded)toattachtheaccess
pointtoafixedobject
7. ProceedtoChapter 3toconfiguretheAccessPoint3000.
