Reviewing and Re-enabling Spanning Tree
Bydefault,spanningtreeisenabledgloballyontheMatrixDFESeriesorNSAdeviceand
enabledonallports.ThedefaultversionissettoMSTP(802.1s)mode.SinceMSTPmodeisfully
compatibleandinteroperablewithlegacySTP802.1DandRSTPbridges,inmostnetworks,this
defaultshould
notbechanged.
Usethefollowingcommandstoreview,reenableandresetthespanningtreemode.
1. ReviewthecurrentconfigurationononeormoreSIDsand/orports:
show spantree stats [port port-string][sid sid][active]
Specifyingactivewilldisplayinformationforport(s)thathavereceivedBPDUssinceboot.

2. Ifnecessary,globallyenablespanningtree:
set spantree stpmode iee8021
Caution: Spanning Tree configuration should be performed only by personnel who are very
knowledgeable about Spanning Trees and the configuration of the Spanning Tree Algorithms.
Otherwise, the proper operation of the network could be at risk.
