4-4 Configuring Link Aggregation
LACPusesasystempriorityvaluetobuildaLAGID,whichdeterminesaggregationprecedence.
Iftherearetwopartnerdevicescompetingforthesameaggregator,LACPcomparestheLAGIDs
foreachgroupingofports.TheLAGwiththelowerLAGIDisgivenprecedenceandwillbe
allowedto
usetheaggregator.
Thereareafewcasesinwhichportswillnotaggregate:
•Anunderlyingphysicalportisa ttachedtoanotherportonthissameswitch(loopback).
•ThereisnoavailableaggregatorfortwoormoreportswiththesameLAGID.Thiscan
happeniftherearesimplyno
availableaggregators,orifnoneoftheaggregatorshavea
matchingadminkeyandsystempriority.
802.1xauthenticationisenabledusingtheseteapolcommandandportsthatwouldotherwise
aggregatearenot802.1Xauthorized.
AsshowninTable 42,theLACPimplementationonMatrixDFEPlatinumSeries modulesorthe
NSAdevicewillallowasmanyportsaspossibleintoaLAG,whilethe implementationonMatrix
DFEGoldSeriesmoduleswillallowuptoamaximumoffourportsintoaLAG.Thedevicewith
thelowestLAGIDdetermineswhichunderlyingphysicalportsareallowedintoaLAG
basedon
theports’LAGportpriority.PortswiththelowestLAGportpriorityvaluesareallowedintothe
LAGandallothersgointoastandbystate.

Reviewing the Configuration
Bydefault,LACPwillbeenabledonallports.Aggregatoradminkeyandsystempriorityvalues
willbothbesetat32768,andnoLAGswillbeconfigured.
Usethiscommandtoreviewthecurrentconfiguration:
show lacp [port-string]
