Switch Ports
Matrixdeviceshavefixedfrontpanelswitchportsand,dependingonthemodel,optional
expansionmoduleslots.The numberingschemeusedtoidentifytheswitch portsonthefront
panelandtheexpansionmodule(s)installedisinterfacetypedependentand,inchassisbased
systems,isalsodependentuponthechassisin
whichthemodule(s)areinstalled.
Designating Ports in the CLI
Commandsrequiringaportstringparameterusethefollowingsyntaxtodesignate porttype,
location,andportnumber.
Port String Syntax for Matrix DFE Series Modules
Usethissyntaxtospecifyaportstring:

Portnumbercanbe:
Anyportnumberinaslotlocation.Thehighestvalidportnumberisdependentonthenumberof
portsina
slotlocationandtheporttype.
Forexample:
Ifamoduleinslot1has48,100MbpsFastEthernetfrontpanelports,andanuplinkinterfacewith
6MiniGBICs,therangeofportnumberdesignationsusedintheCLIcommandwouldbe:
fe.1.1throughfe.1.48forthe48100
MbpsFastEthernetfrontpanelports,and
ge.1.1throughge.1.6forthe6MiniGBICuplinkports.
Iftheuplinkhasthesametype(fe)portsasthefrontpanel,thenumberingcontinueswiththeport
numberfe.1.49.
