Configuration Persistence Mode
Thedefaultstateofconfigurationpersistencemodeis“auto,”whichmeansthatwhenCLI
configurationcommandsareentered,orwhenaconfigurationfilestoredontheswitchis
executed,theconfigurationissavedtoNVRAMautomaticallyatthefollow ingintervals:
•Onastandaloneunit,theconfigurationischeckedeverytwo
minutesandsavediftherehas
beenachange.
•Onastack,theconfigurationissavedacrossthestackevery30minutesiftherehasbeena
change.
IfyouwanttosavearunningconfigurationtoNVRAMmoreoftenthantheautomaticintervals,
executethesaveconfigcommandandwaitfor
thesystemprompttoreturn.Aftertheprompt
returns,theconfigurationwillbepersistent.
Youcanchangethepersistencemodefrom“auto”to“manual”withthesetsnmppersistmode
command.Ifthepersistencemodeissetto“manual,”configurationcommandswillnotbe
automaticallywrittentoNVRAM.Althoughtheconfigurationcommands
willactivelymodifythe
runningconfiguration,theywillnotpersistacrossaresetunlessthesaveconfigcommandhas
beenexecuted.
Purpose
TosetandviewthepersistencemodeforCLIconfigurationcommands,manuallysavethe
runningconfiguration,view,manage,andexecuteconfigurationfilesandimagefiles,andsetand
viewTFTP parameters.
