TheBSSdefinesthecommunicationsdomainforeachAPanditsassociatedwirelessclients.The
BSSIDisa48‐bitbinarynumberbasedontheAP’swirelessMACaddress,andissetautomatically
andtransparentlyasclientsassociatewiththeAP.TheBSSIDisusedinframessentbetweenthe
APandit
sclientstoidentifytrafficintheservicearea.
TheBSSIDisonlysetbytheAP
,neverbyitsclients.TheclientsonlyneedtosettheServiceSet
Identifier(SSID)thatidentifiestheservicesetprov idedbyoneormoreAPs.TheSSIDcanbe
manuallyconfiguredbytheclients,canbedetectedinanAP’sbeacon,orcanbeobtainedby

eryingfortheidentityofthenearestAP.Forclientsthatdonotneedtoroam,settheSSIDfor
thewirelessdevicetothatusedbytheAPtowhichyouwanttoconnect.

ssothatacontinuouscoverageareaiscreated,wirelessuserswithinthisESScan
roamfreely.AllwirelessnetworkadaptersandAPswithinaspecificESSmustbeconfiguredwith
thesameSSID.
