and will be the account that the processd service uses to start server
processes that must stay running when no user is logged in.
• There are now two main differences in the operation of processd in the
Solaris and Windows environments due to differences in their native
security architectures:
• When you request the start of any process (such as the
SpectroSERVER or the Archive Manager) from a remote connection
in the Windows environment (typically using the SPECTRUM Control
Panel), the process will always start as the processd server user. In
the Solaris environment, the process will start as the user making
the request.
For server processes that need to stay running after a user logs out,
a new SERVERPROCESS field was introduced for the Windows
environment. In order for Windows to not shutdown these
processes during logout, these server processes are started as the
user configured to run the processd service (not the TICKETUSER
specified in the install ticket in the Solaris environment).
Service Performance Manager (SPM)
Service Performance Manager (SPM) is an application designed to allow
you to configure and view results of Response Time Test measurement
across Distributed SpectroSERVER domains and throughout the
managed network. SPM offers a multi-vendor, multi-agent approach to
response time management, enabling existing performance
management investments to be leveraged. Intelligent, automated
discovery and configuration of performance test points within the
infrastructure accelerates deployment and optimizes workflow
efficiency. The user interface to the Service Performance Manager is
entirely web-based and supports the Network Operations Center (NOC)
workflow processes.
SPECTRUM Reporting Gateway
• With the SPECTRUM Report Gateway (SRG), Aprisma has provided a
gateway to convert and archive raw SSLogger data into Round Robin
Databases (RRD). Once SSLogger data is in RRD format, there are
many different tools and utilities available to generate graphical
reports. The SRG utilizes SSLogger as its data-collection engine,
RRDtool as a means of efficient SpectroSERVER data storage (RRD
