model's Fault Management GIB, and can now be set using the Global
Attribute Editor.
- Link Trap Handling: Historically, SPECTRUM handled Link Down and
Link Up traps by simply generating an event and a red alarm on the
port model to which the trap corresponds. Additionally, an event and
yellow alarm will be generated on the device model. These events
and alarms were not integrated with other port status monitoring
functionality. As a result, a SPECTRUM user may see two red alarms
for the same problem (a port went down).one alarm resulting from
the Link Down trap, and another resulting from Live Pipes or
PollPortStatus intelligence. Now, a link down trap will merely initiate
an evaluation of the port's status by the regular port status
intelligence (provided the AlarmOnLinkDownTrap attribute is set to
ALWAYS or CHECK ADMIN). SPECTRUM still generates a yellow alarm
on the device model to allow easy access to vendor-specific trap
data; however we no longer generate the trap-specific events and
alarms on the affected port model. Here is a list of the events and
alarms that are no longer generated, and the events and alarms that
replace them. Any customer with a possible dependence on the
specific Events/Alarms generated from Link Traps should review that
table and adjust any dependent processing to use the new Events/
Alarms.
