Connecting High-Speed Stacking Cables
Thestackofswitchescanbeconnectedinaringordaisychaintopology.Inaring
topologyalltheswitchesareconnected.Theonlydifferenceinthecableconnectionsina
daisychaintopologyisthatonecableisnotinstalled.
Upto8switchescanbestackedtogetherusing
high‐speedstackingcables.Youcanadd
switchesandreachuptoamaximumof384Ethernetportsperstack.Thehigh‐speed
stackingcablesallowtheentirestacktooperatewithasingleIPaddress.
Thehigh‐speedstackingcablesareoptionalitemsandmustbeorderedseparately.The

‐24PandB3G124‐48PsupportthreetypesofSecureStackstackingcables:
•C2CAB‐SHORTcabletoconnecttwoadjacentswitchesinthestack.Ifthestackisina
configurationwheretheadjacentswitchesaretoofarapartfortheSHORTcables,the
LONGcablecanbeusedfortheconnections.
•C2CAB‐
LONGcabletoconnectfromthetopswitchtothebottomswitchinthestack.
YouneedonlyoneC2CAB‐LONGcableperstack.
•C2CAB‐5Mcabletoconnectfromthetopswitchtothebottomswitchinthestack
whenthesetwoswitchesarephysicallylocatedinseperatemountingracks
and
requirealongercablereach.

DOWNandSTACKUPconnectorsareusedintheinstallation.Thehigh‐speedstacking
