Considerations About Using Clear Config in a Stack
Whenusingtheclearconfigcommand(page3 ‐51)toclearconfigurationparametersinastack,it
isimportanttorememberthefollowing:
•UseclearconfigtoclearconfigparameterswithoutclearingstackunitIDs.Thiscommand
WILLNOTclearstackparametersortheIPaddressandavoidstheprocessof
renumbering
thestack.
•Useclearconfigallwhenitisnecessarytoclearallconfigparameters,includingstackunit
IDsandswitchpriorityvalues.ThiscommandwillnotcleartheIPaddressnorwillitremove
anappliedadvancedfeaturelicense.
•UseclearipaddresstoremovetheIPaddressofthe
stack.
•Useclearlicensetoremoveanappliedlicensefromaswitch.
Configurationparametersandstackinginformationcanalsobeclearedonthemasterunitonly
byselectingthe“restoreconfigurationtofactorydefaults”optionfromthebootmenuonswitch
startup.Thisselectionwillleavestackingprioritiesonallother
units.
Issues Related to Mixed Type Stacks

BecausetheSecureStackC2andC3switcheshavedifferenthardwarearchitectures,the
functionalitysupportedbythetwoswitchtypesisdifferent.Whenthetwotypesofswitchesare
mixedinastack,thefunctionalitysupportedwillbethelowestcommondenominatoroffeatures
supportedonallplatforms.Refertothefirmware

features.
Configuration
Common Firmware Version
MixedstackingissupportedbySecureStackC2firmwareversion5.02.xx.xxxxonly.Youcaninstall
theC2firmwarefirst,withtheC3switchinstand‐alonemode,oryoucanaddtheC3switchtothe
stackandthencopytheC2firmwaretotheC3switchusingthesetswitchcopy
‐fwcommand
(page2‐10).AftercopyingtheC2firmwaretotheC3switch,youmustresetthestack.
Switch Manager
ItisrecommendedthataSecureStack C3switchbemadethemanagerofamixedstack.Usetheset
switchmovemanagementcommand(page2‐11)tochangethemanagerunit.
