C2RPS-SYS Redundant Power System
Ifyouareinstallinganoptionalredundantpowersystem(C2RPS‐SYS),refertothe
installationinstructionssuppliedwiththeSecureStackRPS.Theswitchisconnectedtoa
C2RPS‐PSMusingaC2RPS‐PSMCable.
Ifyouareinstallingtheswitchasastandaloneswitch,proceedto“ConnectingtoConsole
Portfor
LocalManagement”onpage 3‐18.Ifyouareinstallingswitchesinastack
configuration,applypowertoeachswitchinorder,accordingtotheprocedureyouusein
“ConfiguringSwitchesinaStack”onpage 3‐12.
Stack Initialization Overview
Whenyouinstallandconnectallthehigh‐speedstackingcablestotheswitchesinthe
stackbeforeapplyingpowertotheswitches,thefollowingoccurs:
•Theswitchthatwillmanage(Manager)thestackisautomaticallyestablishedwithall
otherswitchesestablishedasMemberswitchesinthestack.Whenthesw i tches
completetheirinitializations,oneoftheswitchesinthestackwillilluminateits
ManagerLED,indicatingthatitisthestackManager.TheManagerLEDoneach
Memberswitchwillbeoff.
•ThehierarchyoftheswitchesthatwillfunctionasbackupManagerisalsodetermined
incasethecurrentManager
malfunctions,ispowereddown,orisdisconnectedfrom
thestack.
•TheConsoleportoneachMemberswitchisdeactivated.OnlytheConsoleportonthe
Managerswitchisactiveforout‐ofbandconfigurationtosettheIPaddress,
password,andotherconfigurationsettings.
OnceyouknowwhichswitchistheManager,
proceedto“ConnectingtoConsolePortfor
LocalManagement”onpage 3‐18.
Caution: To prevent damaging the switch, DO NOTconnect a Power over
Ethernet-compliant Redundant Power System (C2RPS-POE) to the redundant power
supply connector. The switch is only compatible with the SecureStack C2RPS-SYS
redundant power supply system.
