Mini‐GBICshowninFigure 3‐1,pushinonthereleasetabasfarasitwillgotorelease
theMini‐GBICfromtheportslot.ForthetypeofMini‐GBICshown
inFigure 3‐2,pull
outonthereleasetabtoreleasetheMini‐GBICfromtheportslot.
4. GraspthesidesoftheMini‐GBICandpullitstraightoutoftheportslot.
IfstoringorshippingaMini‐GBIC,whichhasafiber‐opticconnector,insertitsprotective
dust
covertoprotecttheendsofthefiber‐opticfibersfromdustorcontamination.
Installing the Switch on a Flat Surface
Wheninstallingtheswitchonaflatsurface,theinstallationoftherubber feetis
recommendedtopreventtheswitchfromslidingonaflatsurface.Installingtherubber
feetisoptionalifyouareinstallingtheswitchinarack.Toinstalltherubberfeet,proceed
to“Installingthe
RubberFeet”instructionsbelow.Forinstructionstorackmountthe
switch,proceedto“RackMountingtheSwitch”onpage 3‐9.
Installing the Rubber Feet
Toinstalltherubberfeet,refertoFigure 3‐3andproceedasfollows:
1. Placetheswi tchonitsbackonasturdyflatsurfacetogainaccesstothebottomofthe
chassis.
2. Removethe fourrubberfeetfromtheirplasticbagintheshipping box.
3. Locatethefourmarkedlocationson
thebottomfourcornersofthechassis.
