Attaching the Electrostatic Discharge Wrist Strap
TheElectrostaticDischarge(ESD)wriststrapmustbeattachedbeforehandlingthepower
supplies,fantray,andmodulesusedintheMatrixX16‐Cchassis.
PlacetheESDwriststraponyourwristandplugtheotherendintothegroundingreceptacle,
showninFigure 3‐10,nearthebottomofthe
chassis.

MatrixXACpowersuppliesaresupportedinallMatrixXchassismodelsandprovidetwopower
outputlevelsrelativetotheinputpowersource.Thepowersuppliessupporteither110Vac20Aor
220Vac10Aservice,providing 1160or1500Wattsperpowersupplydependinguponthe
electricalinfrastructure
ofthesitewheretheMatrixXchassiswillbelocated.
Becausesystemcomponentsconsumevaryingamountsofelectricalpower,werecommend
consultingthemodulepowerspecificationsin“PowerSupply Requirements,Specifications,and
TwistLockOptions”onpage A‐2toguideyouininstallingthepropernumberofpowersupplies
foryourconfiguration.
AsyouaddmodulestotheMatrixX16‐Cchassis,youmayberequiredtoinstallmorepower
supplies.Additionalpowersuppliescanbeinstalledtoprovideredundancy.Thiswouldrequire
incrementalpowerbeaddedtothebasepowerrequirementsofthechassisanditscomponents,
dependingon
thepowerredundancyyouwanttosupport.
Whenatleasttwopowersuppliesareinstalled,thepowerfromeachisevenlydistributed.Ifone
powersupplyfails,thesecondpowersupplyassumestheload.Additionalmodulessharethe
loadasrequired.
BeawarethatwhenyoureceiveyourMatrixX16‐C
chassis,acoverplatewillbeinplaceoverall
powersupplyslotsexceptPS1inthelowerright.Thisslotisleftopenforyourconveniencewhen
installingthefirstpowersupply.
