X16-C Redundant Power Supplies
TheMatrixX16‐Csupportsuptosixpowersuppliesthatinstallontherightsideofthechassis,in
slotslabeledPS1throughPS6.Whilethechassiscanoperatewithfewerthansixpowersupplies
installeddependinguponthenumberofinstalledIOMs,FMs,andCMs,additionalpower
suppliesprovide
redundancyandloadsharing.
Eachpowersupply(X‐AC)requiresadedicated100‐240Vac,20Ampearth‐groundedcircuit.
Powercordsshippedwiththisunitarecountry‐dependent.Eachpowercordmustbeplugged
intoanindependentpowercircuit.
Eachpowersupplyhasitsowncoolingfanstoforceair
fromthefrontandoutthebackofthe
chassis.
Thepowersuppliesarecapableofloadsharing(+/‐5%)oftheMatrixX16‐Cpowerload.Ifone
powersupplyfails,theotherpowersuppliessupportaminimallyloadedchassis(1IOM,1FM,
and1CM)withoutinterruptiontonetwork

Asanoption,youcanpurchasetwistlockpowercordswhichsecurelyattachtherearpowerinlets

toutilizethiscordforyourchassis.
Power Supply LEDs
EachpowersupplycomesequippedwithtwoLEDsforat‐a‐glancediagnosticsthatindicate
individualACandDCpowersupplystatus.Referto“PowerSupplyLEDs”onpage 3‐42,for
moreinformation.
Auto-Ranging Power Supplies
TheMatrixX16‐Cpowersuppliesautomaticallyadjusttotheinputvoltageandfrequency,which
allowsforaninputvoltageof100to240 Vac,andafrequencybetween50and60 Hz.Seethe
operatingspecificationsinAppendixA,SpecificationsandRegulatoryCompliance.No
additionaladjustmentsarenecessary.Forinstallationsin
NorthAmerica,a20 Amppowercordis
required.See“PoweringUptheMatrixX16‐CChassis”onpage 3‐41formoredetails.
Power Supply Replacement
Tolimitnetworkdowntime,apowersupplymayberemovedafterithasbeenpowereddown
withoutpoweringdownthechassis.Whenmorethanonepowersupplyisinstalled,thisallows
youtoremoveonepowersupplywithoutinterruptingnetworktraffic.
X16-C Cooling System
TheX16‐Cfeaturesuptosix(X‐FAN)removablefantraysaccessiblefromthefrontoftheunit.
Theseunitsarehotswappable,sotheycanbereplacedwithoutpoweringdownthechassis.The
fantrayhasoneLEDlocatedonthefrontoftheunit,indicatingthestatusof
thefantray(normal/

OntheX16‐C,coolingairenterstheside,front,andrearofthechassisatthebottom,travelingup
throughthemodules,thenexhaustsinthe
backandsidesatthetopofthechassis.
