3. Install CTs for Metering (Model ENV-S-AM1-120 only)
The Envoy-S Metered (ENV-S-AM1-120) requires the use of UL Listed Energy-monitoring CTs to provide
revenue grade production metering and to provide (optional) consumption metering. Wire it for revenue
grade production metering and for consumption metering (optional) as described in this section. When wiring
the Envoy-S for production and consumption metering, be sure to install the current transformers (CTs)
exactly as described for your application.
When using CTs, do not energize the Envoy-S or the microinverters before the CT installation is complete.
Do not install the CTs in a panel where they exceed 75% of the wiring space of any cross-sectional area
within the panel.
Install the CT for Production Metering
DANGER! Risk of electrocution! CTs must be installed with no current flowing in the sensed
circuit. Do not energize the sensed circuit until the CT leads are installed in the terminal block.
DANGER! Risk of electric shock. Be aware that installation of this equipment includes risk of
electric shock. If you wire the Envoy-S at the subpanel, always de-energize the subpanel before
beginning wiring.
a. Use only the CT that came with the Envoy-S.
It is marked with the same serial number as the Envoy-S.
b. Locate the arrow on the CT label.
c. Install the CT on Line 1 (matching Envoy’s “A” voltage terminal) of the solar production circuit with
the arrow pointing towards the breakers.
d. Connect the white wire to the “IA•” terminal.
e. Connect the blue wire to the “IB•” terminal.
f. Tighten the terminal block screws to 5 in-lbs.
