4 AGEN CY APPROVALS
4 .1 CE Approva l ( PTM 2 1 0 only)
The devices bear t he EC conform ity m arking CE and conform t o the R&TTE EU-direct ive on
radio equipm ent . The assem bly conform s t o t he European and nat ional requirem ent s of
elect rom agnetic com pat ibilit y. The conform it y has been proven and t he corresponding
docum ent at ion has been deposit ed at EnOcean. The PTM devices can be operat ed wit hout
not ificat ion and free of charge in t he area of the European Union, and in Switzerland. The
following provisos apply:
 EnOcean RF devices m ust not be m odified or used out side t heir specificat ion lim it s.
 EnOcean RF devices m ay only be used to t ransfer digit al or digitized data. Analog speech
and/ or m usic are not perm it ted.
 The final product incorporat ing EnOcean RF devices m ust it self m eet t he essent ial re-
quirem ent of t he R&TTE Direct ive and a CE m arking m ust be affixed on the final product
and on t he sales packaging each. Operat ing inst ruct ions cont aining a Declarat ion of Con-
form it y has t o be at t ached.
I f t ransm it t ers are used according t o t he regulat ions of the 868.3 MHz band, a so- called
“ Duty Cycle” of 1% per hour for each t ransm itt er m ust not be exceeded. Perm anent t rans-
m it ters such as radio earphones are not allowed. For convent ional applicat ions, it m ust be
ensured that t he PTM 210 radio device is not operat ed m ore t han 6000 t im es wit hin one
hour ( one operat ion: energy bow is pressed and released) . Wit hin t his calculat ion, the ex-
traordinary short t elegram lengt h is considered including t hree subtelegram s. Also a t oler-
ance of 5% in t he t elegram lengt h is included.

This device com plies wit h Part 15 of t he FCC Rules and with RSS- 210 of I ndustry Canada. I f
this device is operat ed in com pliance wit h the following requirem ent s it can be operat ed
wit hout not ification and free of charge in t he area of t he Unit ed St at es of Am erica and in
Canada. Operat ion is subj ect t o t he following t wo condit ions:

this device m ay not cause harm ful int erference, and
( 2) t his device m ust accept any interference received, including int erference that
m ay cause undesired operat ion.
