j. Plug in the USB-to-Serial converter. The window should change to show
the USB-to-Serial converter installed.
k. Most devices will show the Com port next to the device name. Record
this number. In this case, it is COM12.
Note: Make sure there is no "!" or "X" next to the USB device. If you
see an "!" or an "X," the device is not properly installed and will not
work
