When batteries are stored withthe adhesive tab intact, they have a loweropencircuitvoltage (OCV)
sincethe oxygencontained in the batteryisconsumedduringstorage.Whenthetabisremovedthe
OCVwillriseasoxygenactivatestheairelectrode.Withmultipleairholesforaddedrate
capability,the
PP355maytakeacoupleofsecondstoairupenoughtosustaina 50mWloadabove1volt.Basedon
thetimeitwilltakeaconsumertoremovethetab,insertthebatteryintothedevice,closethebattery
compartment, the battery should be ready to
support the device load when the user turns on the
power.
FormaximumperformanceofaPP355undera50mWcontinuous load,a minimumairflowrateof2‐3
ccofairperminuteisneeded.Forhigherpowerdemanddevices(100mW),aminimumof4‐6
ccofair
perminuteisneeded.Inmostdevicesthisamountofaireasilyleaksintothebatterycompartment.
