SOIL:
• Well-draining soil is ideal.
• Avoid overly sandy soil, which causes water and
nutrients to drain.
• Avoid clay, which can retain too much water and
reduce blooms.
• Amend as needed, primarily with organic materials.
SUN EXPOSURE:
• Morning sun, dappled afternoon
shade is rule of thumb.
• In warmer climates, be sure to have
at least dappled shade by midday.
• In cooler climates, additional sun
can be tolerated but avoid full sun.
