Unpacking the Enable-IT 828 Gigabit Ethernet & PoE+ Extender
Carefully remove the Enable-IT 828 Gigabit Ethernet & PoE+ Extender and all packing
materials from the box. Verify that the items listed below are present. Make sure that the
equipment supplied matches what you ordered. If any items are missing or damaged,
please contact Enable-IT or your distributor for assistance.

Perform an out of the box Test
We highly recommend a quick test to ensure the working order of you 828 Gigabit
Ethernet & PoE+ Extender. To perform this test, attach the 828 Input port to your
PoE LAN switch, PoE Injector, or if using an optional 5v power adapter your LAN
device. On power up the 828 will show power and connectivity LED’s. Next
connect your PoE device to the output port of the 828 or if using a non-PoE
powered device Make sure to set the DIP switch to disable PoE output.
Test your connectivity from end to end.
LED indicators will provide visual operational status of the 828 Extender.
Input RJ-45 Port:
Power LED - Solid Green LED (left side of RJ-45 port) indicates the
5v power source is on and good.
Input LED - Solid Yellow LED (right side of RJ-45 port) indicates
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity detected.
- No LED lit (right side of RJ-45 port) indicates 10Mbs
or 100Mbs Ethernet connectivity detected.
Output RJ-45 Port:
Gigabit LED - Solid Yellow LED (left side of RJ-45 port) indicates
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and activity.
10/100 LED - Solid Green LED (right side of RJ-45 port) indicates
100Mbs Ethernet connectivity and activity.
- No LED lit (right side of RJ-45 port) indicates
10Mbs Ethernet connectivity.
Performing the On-Site Installation
After removing the Enable-IT 828 Gigabit Ethernet & PoE+ Extender from the box and
performing the out of the box testing all that remains to install the Extender on-site is to
mount the Extender and attach the LAN device cabling.
Choose your installation type desired from the following list of options:
Option 1: Standalone 828 unit with optional 5v-2A power adapter.
